Last month I led a Mastermind seminar on the topic of Time Management Mastery for Owners and Solo Professionals. One of the things that I always suggest is to automate as much as possible (such as call tracking software) and to make your systems easy to implement. With that in mind, you may want to check out a service called, Rescue Time.
This is a tool that helps with productivity & self-discipline, with automated activity tracking and tools to fight information overload. Here’s the description from their site:
• Automagical time tracking. RescueTime measures which application, site, or (optionally) document name is being used and automatically ignores idle time.
• An easy and powerful reporting tool allowing you to identify problem spots and trends.
• The ability to pause tracking for some privacy, or even delete bits of your own time (but you can't add productive time that didn't happen)
• Specify a period of time you want to focus and the distracting parts of the web are blocked. Voluntary self- discipline.
• Track offline time like meetings and phone calls.
• Deeper tracking. In addition to tracking sites and applications, RescueTime Pro allows you to breakdown document usage.
• Set alerting rules to have RescueTime nudge you when you spend too much time on distractions or cheer you on when you hit your goals
I’m just starting to use it now so if you’ve used it before, let me know what you think.
