The Swamps of New Orleans

Last month I was in New Orleans to celebrate my 40th birthday. The city itself casts as very sensuous spell (especially in the muggy summer) but the highlight for me was an encounter with a 15 foot alligator in the nearby swamps.

Heading out on our boat, I wasn’t sure we’d see any alligators. But within about 5 minutes, “El Guapo” appeared and lingered around our boat for about 20 minutes. I even got to touch his massive tail. If you get out to New Orleans, be sure to make time to explore the swamps. It was an unforgettable experience.
